Notes
- This is one of the meals I prepare quite frequently. Instead of frying raw beef, I often reuse leftover grilled beef. If using steak, thinly slice it and add it directly to the onion-mushroom mixture. If using a grilled ground-beef patty, cut it into small pieces and mix it into the onions and mushrooms the same way. Sauté everything briefly (about 1 minute), then add the sauces as described in the instructions above.
- Optional sauce for veggies. For a light finishing sauce, prepare a simple beurre monté (emulsified butter). Bring ¼ cup water to a boil, reduce the heat, and gradually whisk in 4 tbsp cold butter. Season with salt and pepper. This dish is intentionally served without additional sauce, as the beef and mushroom base is already rich in flavors.
